AUSMAH Pilots Blockchain-Based Tracking for Oil Field Equipment

AUSMAH has launched a pilot program using blockchain technology to track the provenance and maintenance history of critical components used in its oil and gas equipment lines. Each major part is now assigned a digital record documenting its manufacturing origin, inspection history and service life.
The company says the system is designed to reduce counterfeit parts entering the supply chain and to give operators a verifiable maintenance trail for equipment used in demanding field conditions. Early results from the pilot, run across a small number of partner facilities, have shown faster audit times and fewer disputes over warranty claims.
“Blockchain isn’t a buzzword for us, it’s a practical tool for solving a real traceability problem in heavy equipment,” said a representative from AUSMAH’s technology division.
