AUSMAH Explores Machine Learning for Predictive Well Maintenance

03 October 2024
AUSMAH has begun applying machine learning models to historical maintenance data from oil and gas wells, aiming to better predict when equipment is likely to require servicing.
The models are trained on years of accumulated sensor and maintenance records, allowing the system to flag patterns that often precede equipment failure. Early testing suggests the approach could meaningfully reduce unplanned downtime at monitored sites.
“We have years of data sitting in maintenance logs. Machine learning finally lets us put it to real use,” said a data scientist working on the project.
