In the automotive industry, the development of smart cars is gaining popularity. In the oil and gas industry, a similar shift toward smart, connected equipment is well underway.

This is not only about self-driving cars or automated drilling and monitoring systems. Every year, vehicles and industrial equipment alike look more like computers built into machinery, and our goal is to make both the smart car and smart oilfield equipment as close to perfect as possible. In our understanding, modern equipment, whether on the road or on a rig, should be able to do everything required of it while remaining as simple as possible to operate.

Most innovations are initially tested on concept vehicles or pilot equipment, but by analyzing the technology introduced in these early projects, one can understand the direction of future developments across both industries.
