AUSMAH is developing driver assistance technologies that allow trucks to travel together on highways at a set following distance.
The truck automatically alerts the driver when another truck is nearby. Both drivers can then activate the system with the push of a button, after which one truck follows the other autonomously. If the lead truck brakes, the following truck slows down automatically as well.
This technology is expected to deliver fuel savings of around 7%.
